The Story Behind Farmhouse Sweets & Eats

Scott and I have a blended family of nine kids. We raised them all to be hard workers and look out for each other.

Our older children (who are all raising their own families now) grew up cleaning chicken coops, milking goats, slaughtering hogs and growing things in the garden. Our youngest two kiddos had a little easier beginning with so many older siblings to do most of the hard work.

As a homeschooling family, we often took on family projects and went on family trips for educational as well as family-bonding experiences. This included our regular backpacking trips in the local mountains near the Central Coast of California where we lived. Sometimes we would pack everyone up for a road trip to check out the geography or history of a far off place. We also spent a lot of time at home, learning how to improve our cheese-making, soap-making and bread-making. We put on summer camps right in our own back yard inviting other homeschoolers to come learn with us and a big part of this was outdoor cooking! Everyone LOVED the cooking! Trying new ideas for recipes and things we could make right at home, instead of buying at the store was an every day kind of thing.

About the time our youngest two were 10 and 12 years old is when we moved the whole family to North Idaho. After living here for a short while Scott and I realized we needed a new project. We needed something we could do with our youngest two who were growing up fast and needed a focus. They needed some a project that included some hard work! They needed an opportunity to get to know our beautiful Coeur d' Alene community and an opportunity to create something of their own right here.

The four of us started Farmhouse Sweets & Eats, LLC... a family friendly food truck  in 2022! This is where we serve the food we raised our family on. You won't find a deep fryer or bright food coloring in our food truck. What you will find is simple, delicious burgers, sandwiches and sweets made from our family's recipes!
